For this beautiful Egyptian inspired necklace I used a pair of hand drawn enamel illustrations by an amazing French artist. In hieroglyphs Bastet was the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection and cats. She was the warrior daughter and defender of Ra. As protectress, she was seen as defender of the pharaoh, after Sekhet, the lioness, and consequently of the chief god Ra.

Those beautiful components are complimented by a large vintage Czech glass button with pharaohs relief. The button is indigo blue changing colour to fiery red as if it is lit from within. The metallic pharaoh relief brings the theme together. In the center there is a beautiful carnelian stone accompanied by lapis lazuli, a variety of glass beads and verdigris patina metallic components. The multi strand on top is composed by genuine African turquoise beads, more lapis lazuli and genuine handmade Egyptian clay beads from the markets of Cairo. I tried to be as true as possible to the actual materials used for jewellery in the time of pharaohs. The dangles also bring in Egyptian motives: an antique gold statue, 2 mummies and ankh symbols.

It is truly a unique piece for archaeology and history lovers. as well for those wishing to wear a unique piece inspired by one of the most interesting legacies in history.

Care & Maintenance

Do not let perfume or cosmetics come in direct contact with the beads and components. While I choose my material carefully and I try to provide the best quality, if not properly taken care of, all beads will change or lose colour or shine in time if exposed to chemicals.

Handle the fragile components with care especially the clasp area. Be gentle! Because I use lots of fragile components made of clay or porcelain, I advise to keep the jewellery in their own boxes out of harm's way. I do consider repairs, but subject to certain conditions.
