The girl in the photo is the artist's daughter, Julie. I gave a romantic touch to this piece with a handmade deep purple silk flower (recycled from sari industry in India), a few felt pom poms, a handmade ceramic drop (from Spain) and a border made with sequins, soutache cord, rhinestone chainand a variety of glass beads.

Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun (1755 – 1842), also known as Madame Le Brun, was a prominent French portrait painter of the late 18th century. Her work is mainly Rococo with elements of Neoclassical. She was the portrait painter of Marie Antoinette and many European aristocrats. She managed to make a name for herself in spite of being a woman for which artistic training was forbidden in her time. You can see her self-portrait below in the middle. She is one of my absolute favourite painters. I will always recall the emotion I felt when I saw her paintings for the first time in Chateau Chantilly in France.

Care & Maintenance

Do not let perfume or cosmetics come in direct contact with the beads and components. While I choose my material carefully and I try to provide the best quality, if not properly taken care of, all beads will change or lose colour or shine in time if exposed to chemicals.

Handle the fragile components with care especially the clasp area. Be gentle! Because I use lots of fragile components made of clay or porcelain, I advise to keep the jewellery in their own boxes out of harm's way. I do consider repairs, but subject to certain conditions.
